What is a contactless payment on AU Credit Card?

Contactless mode or Tap & Pay allows you to make payments up to ₹5000 by simply tapping your contactless-enabled cards or digital card added on your mobile phone against a POS machine without the need to insert your card or enter PIN. It enhances the overall experience with lightning-fast and completely safe payments.
How to enable contactless payments?

Visit the 'Manage Credit Card' page.

Enter your credit card details and click on get OTP.

Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.

Click on 'Enable/Disable transaction types'. Activate the toggle button to enable contactless mode for domestic/international transactions.

Turn on NFC in the phone settings and ensure Google Pay is set as default payment app

What makes contactless payments secure?

Contactless payment can be completed by tapping or waving (only within 4cm) against POS machine. Based on NFC technology the encrypted card details are read by the card reader without the need for entering any other information.
The dependency of PIN or entering additional information at the time of making payment is also removed which makes fraudulent transaction a rare event.

Can all Credit Cards be used for contactless transaction?
A credit card that has a contactless indicator symbol (like a WiFi symbol) on it, can be used for Tap & Pay transactions. However, contactless mode is to be enabled first on your Credit Card.

- Login to AU 0101 app with your credentials.
- Click on Manage Credit Card limit.
- Enable contactless mode & set payment limit.
- Submit & Enter PIN for final confirmation.

Are contactless payments safe?
Contactless payments are based on NFC technology to transmit encrypted payment information which is as safe as other modes of payments. Additionally Bank also provides insurance cover for fraudulent contactless transactions.
Bank insurance policy for fraudulent contactless transactions?
A customer is entitled to receive Card Liability Cover for fraud contactless transaction subjective to all the terms and conditions being met as per the insurance policy.
- Insurance policy covers any loss arising out of unauthorized / fraudulent usage of lost or stolen cards on ATM/POS/EDC terminal/E-commerce anywhere in the world.
- It is applicable only to active primary credit cardholders. An Active Credit Card is the card with one transaction/activity on any ATM/POS/e-commerce terminal in the last 180 days from the date of loss.
- The card should be blocked/cancelled within 7 days from the date of notification of fraud transaction via SMS/Card statement/Email/Net Banking or by any other means by card holder.
- Intimation of claim to the bank should be made within 60 days from the date of blocking or date of receiving the statement whichever is earlier.
