Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Average Monthly Balance (AMB)?

Average Monthly Balance (AMB) is the average balance you maintain in your account during a month, calculated based on the end of day balance for each day of the month.

How is AMB calculated?

AMB is calculated by:
1. Adding the end of day balance of your account for each day of the month
2. Dividing the total by the number of days in that month

Example:
Month: April (30 days)

Date RangeBalance (₹)No. of DaysBalance x Days
Apr 1 - Apr 550,00052,50,000
Apr 6 - Apr 1030,00051,50,000
Apr 11 - Apr 2020,000102,00,000
Apr 21 - Apr 3040,000104,00,000
Total 30 Days10,00,000

Step by step calculation:
1. Total of (daily balance x No. of days) = ₹10,00,000
2. Average monthly balance (AMB)

Is AMB different for different savings / current accounts?

Yes. The required AMB depends on the type of savings/current account you hold and may differ for each variant.

Does the balance have to be the same every day to maintain AMB?

No, your balance can fluctuate due to transactions in account. The average of all end of day balances should meet the required AMB.

Which balance is considered for AMB - start of the day or end of the day?

AMB is calculated based on the end of day balance for each day.

Do withdrawals and deposits affect my AMB?

Yes. Both directly impact your AMB calculation. Deposits increase your daily balance and withdrawals reduce your daily balance.

Will pending or failed transactions be considered for AMB?

Only successful transactions that reflect in your account balance by end of day are considered for AMB calculation.

Is AMB calculated every month?

Yes.
AMB is calculated separately for each calendar month.

Are weekends and holidays included in AMB calculation?

Yes.
AMB is calculated for all calendar days, including weekends and bank holidays.

What happens if I don’t maintain the required AMB?

If the required AMB is not maintained:
1. Non-maintenance charges may be applied
2. Charges depend on the variant of savings/current account you hold
(Please refer to the Schedule of Charges for details.)

How can I avoid AMB charges?

You can avoid AMB charges by:
1. Keeping sufficient balance through the month
2. Adding funds before month end if balances fall
3. Choosing an account variant that suits your balance pattern

Does interest calculation depend on AMB?

No.
Interest is calculated basis the amount maintained in your account on day end and is accrued daily and credited on month end in your Savings Account

Is the AMB calculator on the website accurate?

The AMB calculator provides a close estimate based on the balances entered by you. Actual AMB may vary slightly depending on the exact balances maintained, number of days in a month etc.
Final AMB is calculated by AU Small Finance Bank as per system records and applicable account rules.

Where can I see my actual AMB status?

You can view the AMB maintained in your account for last 3 months via the AU 0101 Mobile Banking Application

Can AMB requirements change in the future?

Yes.
AMB requirements and charges are subject to change as per product terms and bank policies, with due communication.
