RTGS is India's highest-value payment system, settling transactions individually and in real-time (not in batches). Each transaction is settled gross meaning it's processed immediately without netting against other transactions. This makes RTGS irrevocable once initiated.

Minimum transaction value is ₹2 lakh. There is no upper limit, making RTGS the preferred mode for high-value corporate transactions, property purchases, and bulk payments.
