Whether you’re supporting a family member abroad, paying university fees, or making an overseas investment, AU Remit makes it easy to send money internationally. But before you begin, it's important to know whether you're eligible to use the service.

In this blog, we simplify the eligibility criteria for AU Remit so you can start your outward remittance journey with clarity and confidence.

What is AU Remit?

AU Remit is AU Small Finance Bank’s digital platform for outward remittances under the Reserve Bank of India’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). It allows eligible customers to send money abroad in a quick, paperless, and transparent manner — right from their device.

Who Can Use AU Remit?

You can use AU Remit if you fall under one of the following categories:

1. Resident Indian Customers

You are eligible to remit funds through AU Remit if:

  • You hold an active Savings Account with AU Small Finance Bank
  • You are classified as a Resident Individual as per RBI guidelines

Resident Indians can use AU Remit for various permitted purposes under LRS, such as:

  • Overseas education
  • Travel and tourism
  • Medical treatment abroad
  • Gift or donation to someone living overseas
  • Investment in foreign stocks or assets etc.

2. NRI Customers

AU Remit is also available to:

  • NRI (Non-Resident Indian) customers holding an active NRE Account with AU Small Finance Bank

NRIs can transfer funds from their NRE account for eligible outward remittance purposes as allowed under FEMA guidelines.

Who is Not Eligible?

Currently, the following are not eligible to use AU Remit:

  • Non-customers (i.e., individuals who do not hold an account with AU Small Finance Bank)
  • Customers with only joint accounts (without operational authority)
  • Businesses, partnerships, trusts, or any non-individual entities
  • Dormant or inactive account holders

If you're not yet a customer, you’ll need to open an eligible AU Small Finance Bank account first to access AU Remit services.

If you’re eligible, here’s what you can look forward to:

  • 100% paperless and digital process
