Tax Payment FAQs
At what income is the tax payable?
Income tax is an annual direct tax that every individual, corporate, firm, or company has to pay to the government. It operates on an incremental income tax slab model. i.e., the higher you earn, the more tax you have to pay.
Income in India is taxable according to the applicable income tax slab rates and is based on the taxpayer’s net annual income. As of March 2021, individuals earning up to INR 2.5 lakh per annum do not have to pay tax. However, there are different tax slabs for individuals, businesses, firms and domestic companies.
How do I check my e-tax payment status?
When paying tax online using our gateway, you will receive a printable acknowledgment indicating the Challan Identification number. You can verify the status of the e-tax payment in the ‘Challan Status Inquiry’ section on the NSDL e-Gov TIN website after a week of making the payment.
Alternatively, you can reach out to our Customer Care at 1800-1200-1200 for further assistance.
